Season’s Coming To An End? Time To Get Your fundraising Hats On

After a long, wet, challenging season, the Kingfisher Beer Cup is down to the penultimate stages with the semi-finals due to take place on 26th August. York CC will be hosting Bamford Fieldhouse CC and Havant CC will be hosting Wanstead & Snarebrook CC for what is set to be a tense weekend!

Sunday 26th August also coincides with the NatWest CricketForce Fundraiser weekend - an annual initiative encouraging cricket clubs to organise fundraising activities to generate valuable funds to invest in cricket equipment, facilities and coaching. Fundraising can take place at any time of the year and on any scale, but NatWest and the ECB are encouraging clubs to utilise the August Bank Holiday weekend (25th-27th) and join the hundreds of other clubs who are drawing on the support of their members, friends and communities in a weekend of fundraising fun. To register your club’s event please visit www.ecb.co.uk/fundraiser .

And to make your fundraising efforts even more enjoyable, those kind people at Kingfisher, India’s No. 1 beer, have also launched a fantastic fundraising initiative this year: the ‘Kingfisher Quiz & Curry Night’ – a free, downloadable, interactive quiz pack.

Over 700 clubs have now registered for the quiz – providing them access to the fully downloadable quiz pack which includes; an interactive sports quiz video, hosted by Kingfisher’s brand ambassador Graeme Swann and a number of PCA Ambassadors, plus everything else clubs may need to carry out their best Quiz & Curry night yet; from handy tips, posters and ticket templates to the video quiz itself and question and answer sheets. For more details please go to the Cricket section at www.kingfisherbeer.co.uk  where you can register your club and download the Quiz for free.

Who said fundraising couldn’t be fun!

Manningham Mills are the new leaders of the JCT 600 Bradford League First Division after gaining maximum points as they beat Baildon by 88 runs at Scotchman Road. Opener Adal Islam was top scorer against his old club with 80 not out in Mills' formidable total of 264-5.
Jonny Moxon, son of Yorkshire's Director of Cricket, Martyn Moxon, played a key role with his pace bowling in York’s seven home win against Doncaster Town. Opener Simon Widdup and James Stuart put together a third wicket stand of 147 as Doncaster totalled 221-8 with Widdup hitting 11 fours and two sixes in his 101 while Stuart struck seven fours and two sixes in his innings of 71, Moxon taking 4-34.
In scenes reminiscent of 2012, the entire programme in the North Lancashire and Cumbria Premier and First Divisions was washed out this weekend. The lack of action means that Haverigg (61), Furness (54) and Cleator (50) lead the way at the top of the Premier Division while in the First Division, Egremont are on top with 63 points, Cletaor II are six points behind and Cockermouth II have 54 points in third place.
There were no positive results in the opening weekend of the Saracens Hertfordshire Cricket League but Totteridge Milhillians sit on top of the table with 17 points. Old Finchleians come next with 16 and St Albans are third with 11.
Teddington and Finchley top the early 2013 Middlesex ECB Premier League after winning their opening matches against Richmond and Eastcote. Eastcote were subsequently docked 10 points for fielding an understrength team, which nevertheless only went down by one wicket.
Thames Ditton Cricket Club will be taking on a blind and partially sighted team from Cricket for Change in a T20 Blind Cricket match to take place at 13.00 on Thames Ditton Green on Sunday 12th May 2013. Phil Tufnell's Cricket for Change team have challenged the local side, Thames Ditton CC to a game with a difference: they will all be blind-folded.
