Indian batsman Virender Sehwag took strike to the opening ball of the Cricket World Cup 2011 against Bangladesh, and promptly opened proceedings in style by hititng it to the boundary.

India had been put into bat by co-hosts Bangladesh but Sehwag overcame the run out of opening partner Sachin Tendulkar to register the tournament's first century, as well as hitting the tournament's first six.

India have been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 final against Sri Lanka, which they went on to win by six wickets in Mumbai. India were deemed to be one over short of their target when time allowances were taken into account during Sri Lanka's innings of 274 for six.
