Shakib was named the captain of the squad that was announced on Saturday but has recently stated that his injury might take another two weeks to heal which effectively puts him out of the series.
"There is still no official statement regarding this issue but the doctor has told me that the injury will take another two weeks to heal.
"So, if that is the case then maybe it is unlikely that I will play in the T20 series".
The number one ranked all-rounder sustained the injury during the tri-series final against Sri Lanka and was forced to miss the two Tests against the same opposition earlier which Bangladesh went on to lose 0-1.
The two game series will be played on 15th and 18th February with Mirpur and Sylhet being the venues.
