Bangladesh captain and all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is set to join up with Worcestershire for a second spell, during June and July of this season's county season.
He took 35 wickets in eight matches for Worcestershire in 2010 and is the third overseas signing made by Worcestershire following the impending arrivals of Damien Wright and Saeed Ajmal.
Subject to a No Objection Certificate and a work permit approval, he will feature for them during the Friends Provident t20 competition.
"Shakib is still ranked as the World's leading one day all rounder according to the ICC rankings, above the names of Watson and Kallis," Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes said.
"We are delighted to welcome back someone of such stature who will be a valuable asset to our LV= Championship and Friends Provident twenty20 campaigns during his stay. His commitments with Bangladesh means that his stay is only for a short period, but expect some 'fireworks' from Shakib in the middle of the season.
"This is the third signing Worcestershire CCC has made in the last week. Regarding the recent appointments of Damien Wright, Saeed Ajmal and Shakib al Hasan, Steve Rhodes said "The recent signings will give experience throughout the summer and I can see this being a real asset to the development of a young squad."
Shakib added: "My first season with Worcestershire in county cricket has made me a better professional and hopefully, a better player and I have realised how important a role the championship plays in the development of cricketers."
