Nottinghamshire and England fast bowler Ryan Sidebottom is to be awarded a benefit season at Trent Bridge in 2010 after spending six years with the Midlands county.

31-year-old Sidebottom has represented his country in 21 Test matches, all but one of those coming since his switch to Nottinghamshire from Yorkshire and he played a key role in Nottinghamshire's 2005 County Championship success.

"Being awarded a benefit year is a huge privilege," Sidebottom said.

"I've always felt at home at Trent Bridge and I'm looking forward to forming a committee and putting on events."

Nottinghamshire Chairman Peter Wright praised Sidebottom's continued commitment to the club.

"Ryan continues to demonstrate that he is a genuine force in world cricket and we are delighted that he is able to combine his international cricket with such a strong commitment to Notts," said Peter.

"He is an extremely talented player, a great ambassador for cricket and thoroughly deserving of a benefit season."
