Sri Lanka have included fast bowler Suranga Lakmal and wicket-keeper Kaushal Silva in their 16-man squad for the opening Test against the West Indies in Galle.

The match gets underway on 15th November as one of three Tests and represents a quick turnaround for the Sri Lankans, who have recently returned from Australia, where they won the One-Day International series 2-1.

Uncapped Silva has played 85 first-class matches and offers back-up to regular gloveman Prasanna Jayawardene, despite Kumar Sangakkara and Tillakaratne Dilshan - both capable and experienced with the gloves - also being named in the squad.

Lakmal has played six One-Day Internationals for Sri Lanka but is yet to make his Test debut and has played 30 first-class matches.

Sangakkara will continue to lead the side with former skipper Mahela Jayawardene as his vice-captain while one of the heroes of the tour of Australia - Lasith Malinga - is left out of the squad.

Dammika Prasad, Thilan Thushara, Lakmal and Dilhara Fernando will compete for the fast-bowling berths with three spinners - Ajantha Mendis, Suraj Randiv and Rangana Herath also in the squad.
