Australia will field a  much-changed side during the Twenty20 International series against Sri Lanka after naming a squad containing several in-form players who used the KFC Big Bash to further their international credentials.

Ben Cutting, Aaron Finch, James Faulkner, Ben Laughlin, Shaun Marsh and Adam Voges have all been called up to the squad for the two matches on 26th and 28th January in Sydney and Melbourne.

All six of those players did not feature in Australia's journey to the semi-finals of the ICC World Twenty20 last year in Sri Lanka but only Cutting has yet to play a Twenty20 International.

"Aaron Finch was the player of the tournament in the KFC T20 Big Bash League, while Shaun Marsh finished as the highest run-scorer with 412 runs," National Selection Panel (NSP) Chair John Inverarity said.

"Ben Laughlin bowled cleverly to take the most number of wickets, 14, while Ben Cutting was second highest wicket-taker with 13 at a very good economy rate."

Prior to the squad being announced, plenty of speculation had linked Luke Pomersbach with a call-up but Inverarity explained why he, and Ben Rohrer, had missed out on this occasion.

"Ben Rohrer played brilliantly with the Melbourne Renegades and was in strong contention for inclusion, as was Luke Pomersbach. The NSP is pleased to see Luke playing so well and hope his good form continues," Inverarity said.
