Women's cricket in South Africa has been given a huge boost with sponsors Momentum launching the 2013-14 season by enabling six players to be handed central contracts.

Mignon du Preez, Dane van Niekerk, Marizanne Kapp, Marcia Letsoalo, Trisha Chetty and Shabnim Ismael are the players who are contracted.

Recently-appointed coach Hilton Moreeng has taken on a full-time role thanks to Momentum's sponsorship, which first got involved in South African cricket last season.

"Momentum once again deserves to be praised for being more than just a major sponsor of cricket in South Africa," Cricket South Africa (CSA) Chief Executive Haroon Lorgat said.

"Indeed I believe their culture and creativity is setting new standards for the way corporates and sport should partner with each other in our country.

"Involvement is not merely investing money in cricket but goes much further through an impressive social investments programme which seeks to build a society that promotes family values and support for under-privileged cricketers," he added.

South Africa finished in sixth place at the 2013 World Cup and recently completed a double series clean sweep over Bangladesh in One-Day Internationals and Twenty20 Internationals on home soil.

They are next in action later this month when they host Sri Lanka - who pipped them to fifth place in the World Cup - for three ODIs and three T20s.

The series begins on 24th October with the first ODI and all matches will be played in Potchefstroom.
