Chennai Super Kings 200-3 (Raina 87, Vijay 68) beat
Wayamba 103 (Ashwin 4-18, Morkel 3-22) by 97 runs
Champions League Group A, Centurion Park

Chennai Super Kings thrashed Wayamba by 97 runs as they took their second comprehensive win of the Champions League Twenty20 after a one-sided match at Centurion Park.

After Suresh Raina and Murali Vijay blasted half-centuries to steer the Super Kings to 200 for three, Ravi Ashwin took four wickets as Wayamba were bowled out for a disappointing 103.

Batting first, Chennai lost Matthew Hayden for ten when he was trapped in front by Ajantha Mendis but afterwards they hardly looked back. Vjiay hammered 68 in 46 balls while Raina was at his explosive best, peppering the midwicket boundary on his way to 87 in 44 balls, an innings that included six fours and six sixes - four of them coming from one Mendis over which disappeared for 28.

Both fell to Chanaka Welagedara late on, leaving Albie Morkel (9 not out) and Mahendra Singh Dhoni (10 not out) to push the Super Kings to 200.

Wayamba's batting then collapsed in the face of a star-studded bowling attack and their innings lasted 17.1 overs.

Off-spinner Ashwin removed Kaushal Lokuarachchi (6), Tisara Perera (4), Rangana Herath (4) and Mendis (15) to wrap up the innigns after Morkel had begun the damage by removing Jeevantha Kulatunga for nought, captain Jehan Mubarak for seven and Kushal Perera for the same score.

Doug Bollinger chipped in with the big wicket of Mahela Jayawardene for ten while Shalika Karunanayake was the last man to fall having top scored with 25.

Ashwin returned four for 18 and Morkel three for 22.
