South Africa A Hold Off Hard-Charging Zimbabwe
South Africa A 244-8 (Rossouw 92) beat
Zimbabwe XI 227 (Chakabva 50) by 17 runs
Tri-series one-day game, Harare
The Zimbabwe XI put in one of their best batting performances of the one-day tri-series in Harare but still came up short as they were beaten by 17 runs by South Africa A.
The result meant they finished the tournament without a point and South Africa A will now take on Australia A in the final on 8th July.
A solid batting performance from the South Africans saw them reach 244 for eight before Zimbabwe were bowled out for 227 in reply.
Rilee Rossouw became the latest player to fall short of a century in the tournament when he made 92 in 93 balls while Vaughn van Jaarsveld offered support with 38 as a string of batsmen made starts.
Zimbabwe did much the same but no one player could kick on and make the sort of score that would have seen them home.
Regis Chakabva continued his excellent form with 50 in 54 balls while Hamilton Masakadza scored 47 before four wickets from Juan Theron and three for Craig Alexander hastened Zimbabwe's downfall.
