South Africa have called up fast bowler Kyle Abbott ahead of the decisive third Test against Australia in Cape Town and will have Ryan McLaren available for selection.

Abbott comes into the side as a replacement for Wayne Parnell, who suffered a groin strain during the Proteas' impressive 231-run win in the second Test in Port Elizabeth.

McLaren was ruled out of that match with concussion after being hit by Mitchell Johnson in the opening match at Centurion, which Australia won by 281 runs.

Quinton de Kock, who was drafted in to make his Test debut at short notice when Alviro Petersen fell ill in Port Elizabeth, remains in the squad as batting cover.

The match begins on Saturday (1st March) and Abbott, who has played one Test, earns his place in the squad after taking 22 wickets at an average of 13.09 in five domestic first-class matches this season.

South Africa Test squad: Graeme Smith (captain), Kyle Abbott, Hashim Amla, Quinton de Kock, AB de Villiers, JP Duminy, Faf du Plessis, Dean Elgar, Rory Kleinveldt, Ryan McLaren, Morne Morkel, Alviro Petersen, Robin Peterson, Vernon Philander, Dale Steyn, Thami Tsolekile
