Cricket South Africa (CSA) has named an 18-strong Women's training squad ahead of the ICC Women's World Twenty20 in Sri Lanka.

The players will prepare for the tournament, which gets underway on 26th September when South Africa take on hosts Sri Lanka, also facing New Zealand and the West Indies.

CSA Senior Cricket Manager, Max Jordaan said: "This squad is ready for duty. We're fortunate to have a preliminary series in the sub-continent against Bangladesh in order for the team to get used to the conditions ahead of the tournament. The team selected has a lot of depth and will give the coach options in terms of game plans."

Head coach, Yashin Ebrahim-Hassen added: "We have picked a balanced troop which has put in the hard work and has been rewarded with its selection."

The squad will be trimmed to 15 on 15th August.

South Africa preliminary ICC Women's WT20 squad: Mignon du Preez (captain), Trisha Chetty (vice-captain), Susan Benade, Dinesha Devnarain, Shandré Fritz, Yolani Fourie, Alison Hodgkinson, Shabnim Ismail, Marizanne Kapp, Ayabonga Khaka, Masabata Klaas, Marcia Letsoalo, Sunette Loubser, Suné Luus, Nadine Moodley, Yolandi Potgieter, Yolandi van der Westhuizen and Dané van Niekerk
