Sunday 17th July saw six teams, 4 from our sponsors and 2 drawn from the club, playing a six-a-side tournament.

This year the proceeds go to the club and to the British Lung Foundation, as a tribute to Roger Fuller and to recognise his and Windsor Print's generosity in their sponsorship of Southborough CC over the years.

The weather wasn't very kind, but spirits remained high throughout the day and a lot of fun was had by the surprisingly large numbers who came along.

This third Charity match day was the biggest yet, and was a great opportunity for our sponsors to get involved at the playing end of the club.

Clearly worried that their selection was under pressure for future games, the home teams resorted to underhand tactics such as bowling at the stumps, taking catches, and hitting the ball to ensure that they kept the sponsors out of the final.

The Raffle, BBQ, Beer, refreshments and Cake sales nudged the day's takings to an all-time high, by a very large margin, and when the final figures come in there will be a large cheque going off to the British Lung Foundation.

It takes a huge amount of time for all this to come together, and the Club is most grateful , not only to our sponsors, but also to those who gave their time, the raffle prizes, the cakes, and many other items.

Special mention must go to Simon Lewis of the Royal Tunbridge Wells Brewing Co. for donating the handsome quantity of his excellent (now award-winning) beer, and to Chris Mainwaring for the loan of his shiny new and blessedly waterproof Marquee - without which we'd have been in real trouble.
