New Zealand bowler Tim Southee is unlikely to feature in the Twenty20 International against England on Friday after he sprained an ankle in training.

Southee, who missed the second and third Tests through injury, was expected to feature and was originally scheduled to play in New Zealand's warm up match against Worcestershire at New Road.

"While his injury is already improving he is a doubtful starter for the Twenty20 match against England at Old Trafford, Manchester, on Friday," a statement read.

New Zealand named the following team to take on Worcestershire today: Daniel Vettori (captain), Jamie How, Brendon McCullum (wicket-keeper), Peter Fulton, Ross Taylor, Scott Styris, Daniel Flynn, Jacob Oram, Jeetan Patel, Mark Gillespie, Michael Mason.

New Zealand play five One Day Internationals against England following the Twenty20 International.
