New Zealand fast bowler Tim Southee has been ruled out of the one-off Test match against Zimbabwe and will not travel due to a knee injury.
Southee was ruled out of the Champions League Twenty20 in late September but New Zealand Cricket (NZC) were hopeful that he would be fit to tour Zimbabwe, naming him in the Test squad.
However, it has now been confirmed that he is not fit enough to play in the Test match, which ends the tour following two Twenty20 Internationals and three One-Day Internationals.
"The latest scans show that the knee injury has improved but the injury has not completely gone away," National Selection Manager Kim Littlejohn said.
"We are taking a long-term view with Tim’s injury and have opted to extend his recovery period rather than rush him back too soon.
"He is expected to be fully fit an available for December’s Test series against Australia."
Graeme Aldridge, who was selected in the ODI and T20I squads, will now stay on and join up with the Test squad as Southee's replacement.
The Test gets underway in Bulawayo on 1st November.
