Having recently teamed up with Sussex County Cricket Club as one of their community partners, Southern Railway will be holding a Community Cricket Roadshow at Brighton Station on Wednesday 2nd June, between 12pm and 4pm.
The event will include coaching sessions and cricket nets at the station for youngsters to coincide with the half-term break and create a great opportunity for enthusiastic children looking to improve their cricketing skills. There will also be some of Sussex’s stars on hand to give hints and tips to budding cricketers from 3pm, subject to availability.
The Sussex Cricket Community Roadshow is a dynamic initiative trying to take cricket to as many people across Sussex as possible. The Roadshow involves some fun and innovative coaching skills and drills and the ever popular Sid the Shark. It aims to enthuse as many people about the game of cricket as possible in a short space of time and is taken to school assemblies, clubs and large events such as the Southern Railway Roadshow. The stars will be on hand to give cricketing hints as they get into gear for Sussex’s defence of the Friends Provident t20 which they won in 2009.
Sussex CCC Chief Executive Dave Brooks said “Southern Railway are a valued community partner that we work closely with and we are delighted to be able to assist them with their Community Roadshow Launch. It should be a fun day”.
Sarah Morrison, CSR & Partnership Manager added “We are delighted to partner with Sussex County Cricket Club and support their successful community programme. The Brighton Station Roadshow will be a great chance to celebrate our new partnership and the fantastic opportunities that the programme delivers in Southern’s communities in Sussex and the south east.”
