India have been forced into making a change to their 15-man World Cup squad, drafting in Shanthakumaran Sreesanth to replace injured quick bowler Praveen Kumar.
Kumar has been ruled out of the tournament, which gets underway on 19th February when India meet co-hosts Bangladesh in Dhaka, with an elbow injury.
Sreesanth, who recently toured South Africa with India but didn't feature in the One-Day International series, was for some a surprise omission when India named their original World Cup squad.
"Praveen Kumar has been ruled out of the ICC CWC 2011 due to an elbow injury," a statement from the Indian board (BCCI) confirmed.
"The All-India Senior Selection Committee has picked S. Sreesanth as Praveen Kumar’s replacement in the Indian team for the tournament. The ICC has confirmed that Praveen Kumar can be replaced in the squad by Sreesanth."
Sreesanth has played 51 ODIs for India and has taken 75 wickets at an average of 32.04.
India remain the favourites for the tournament with , who offer them at 11/4 for overall victory.
