Twenty20 tour game, Sydney

The touring Sri Lankans beat New South Wales by 22 runs in a rain-affected Twenty20 tour match in Sydney to ensure they go into the Twenty20 International against Australia on Sunday (31st October) with a win behind them.

Batting first, Sri Lanka scored 167 for four, with Mahela Jayawardene hitting 59, before New South Wales were restricted to 100 for two in reply from their 14 overs - handing a comfortable victory to the tourists.

Jayawardene faced 35 balls and hit nine fours, putting on 57 with opening partner Tillakaratne Dilshan (21) before Dinesh Chandimal (24), Angelo Mathews (24 not out) and Chamara Kapugedera (26) all made useful contributions to set up a winning score.

Off-spinner Suraj Randiv then took the wickets of Phillip Hughes (30) and Daniel Smith (13) to return two for 13 and despite Usman Khawaja's unbeaten 32, New South Wales fell well short.
