Sri Lanka Hammer Kenya As More Records Fall

Sri Lanka 260-6 (Jayasuriya 88, Jayawardene 65)
Kenya 88 (T Dilshan 2-4, Malinga 2-13) in Johannesburg
Sri Lanka won by 172 runs

Sri Lanka smashed a Twenty20 best as Kenya were put to the sword and beaten by a huge margin in their Group C World Twenty20 match in Johannesburg.

Kenya then collapsed to 88 all out, unable to cope with the asking rate - Alex Obanda top scoring with 21 as they crashed out of the tournament, although better teams than them will struggle to come to terms with Sri Lanka in this sort of form.

Kenya's bowlers, aside from Thomas Odoyo, who bowled well before having to leave the field with injury, were savaged. Upul Tharanga (10) fell early, before Sanath Jayasuriya smashed 88 from 44 balls and Mahela Jayawardene 65 from 28 to remind everyone of their strength in all forms of the game.

The innings was rounded off by a powerful blast of 46 in 13 balls from Jehan Mubarak, who hit five sixes and three fours to hoist Sri Lanka to a huge score.

Their score is ten runs better than the previous best of 250, posted by Somerset against Gloucestershire in 2006.
