Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) have confirmed that they have given central contracts to 19 of their women cricketers, another boost following their strong showing in the World Cup earlier this year.
They beat reigning champions England and hosts India on their way to a record fifth place finish and the 19 players have been split into three categories of contract.
Grade A contracts have been handed to Shashikala Siriwardene, Eshani Lokusuriya, Chamani Seneviratne, Deepika Rasangika, Dilani Manodara while Sandamali Dolowatte, Udeshika Prabodhani, Yasoda Mendis, Sripali Weerakkody and Chamari Atapattu have been awarded Grade B contracts.
The nine players who are on Grade C contracts are Oshadi Ranasinghe, Maduri Sammudrika, Shareena Ravikumara, Nipuni Hansika, Nilakshi de Silva, Rangika Fernando, Lasanthi Madushani, Prasadani Weerakkody, Inoka Ranaweera.
A further development squad list of 16 players was also named although these players are not being awarded contracts.
Those players are Chamari Polgampola, Chandima Gunaratne, Dharshani Dharmasiri, Poojani Liyanage, Madushika Meththananda, Sugandika Kumari Dasanayake, Ama Kanchana, Shaleka Nilukshi, Hasini Perera, Harshitha Madavi Dissanayake, Chaturani Gunawardene, Ruchini Samarasinghe, NJ Ida, Enoshi Fernando, Reebeka Vandort, Krishanthi Sandamali
