Sri Lanka have called up veteran left-arm fast bowler Chaminda Vaas and off-spinner Suraj Randiv as cover for injured duo Muttiah Muralitharan and Angelo Mathews ahead of Saturday's World Cup final against India in Mumbai, for which make them 11/8 chances to win.

Muralitharan has been struggling with various injuries throughout the tournament while Mathews batted with a runner during the five-wicket win over New Zealand in the semi-final.

Vaas, 37, and Randiv have been drafted in as standby players but could be added to Sri Lanka's 15-man squad if they are approved as replacements in time by the ICC Technical Committee.

A World Cup winner in 1996, Vaas was named in Sri Lanka's 30-man preliminary squad before being overlooked for the final squad and he has not played international cricket since 2009 and his last One-Day International appearance was in 2008.

Randiv has more recent experience but Muralitharan, Ajantha Mendis and Rangana Herath were preferred to him for the finals.
