Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) have released their list of contracted players for the 2012/13 season.

The players are split into six categories with five players, including fast bowler Lasith Malinga, being given Category 1 contracts.

Tillakaratne Dilshan, Mahela Jayawardene, Kumar Sangakkara and Thilan Samaraweera are the other players given Category 1 deals.

Category 2: Nuwan Kulasekara, Angelo Mathews, Rangana Herath, Upul Tharanga

Category 3: Prasanna Jayawardene

Category 4: Tharanga Paranavitana, Suraj Randiv, Ajantha Mendis, Dinesh Chandimal

Category 5: Dilhara Fernando, Tissara Perera, Chanaka Welagedara

Category 6: Chamara Kapugedara, Suranga Lakmal, Lahiru Thirimanne

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) have confirmed that they have given central contracts to 19 of their women cricketers, another boost following their strong showing in the World Cup earlier this year. They beat reigning champions England and hosts India on their way to a record fifth place finish and the 19 players have been split into three categories of contract.
Experienced Sri Lankan batsman Thilan Samaraweera has confirmed his retirement from international cricket. Having been left out of the Test squad for the two-match series against Bangladesh, he had submitted his resignation to Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), before a meeting was set up between him and national selectors today.
Kumar Sangakkara will now not return to action in the tour game against Bangladesh, which begins tomorrow, after being one of the 23 national players affected by a contract dispute with Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC). Sangakkara was due to mark his comeback from a hand injury sustained in Australia last year by playing for an Emerging Players side against the Bangladeshis ahead of the first Test on 8th March.
Sri Lanka have confirmed the appointment of Chaminda Vaas as bowling coach, and the former World Cup winner has signed a two-year contract. He will lead bowling coaches Champaka Ramanayake and Anusha Samaranayake and join up with the squad ahead of the home series against Bangladesh, which begins on 8th March.
Angelo Mathews has been named as Sri Lanka's new Test and One-Day International captain with Dinesh Chandimal taking over as Twenty20 International skipper. Mathews had already been leading the one-day side but following Mahela Jayawardene's decision to step down as Test captain, he becomes their fourth captain in the last three years after Kumar Sangakakra, Tillakaratne Dilshan and Jayawardene.
Mahela Jayawardene has confirmed his intention to stand down as Sri Lanka captain following his country's tour of Australia, which begins with the opening Test in Hobart tonight (14th December). Jayawardene is currently in his second spell as captain after he replaced Tillakaratne Dilshan and vice-captain Angelo Mathews is the early favourite to replace him in all three formats.
