First Twenty20, Colombo
Sri Lanka 'A' eased to an six-wicket win over Kenya in the first of seven Twenty20 matches in Colombo despite the returning Steve Tikolo hitting 44 in 40 balls.
The 42-year-old has been recalled by Kenya ahead of the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier next month and he comfortably top scored as Kenya were bowled out for 125.
Sri Lanka reached their target with more than two overs remaining.
Tikolo struck six fours during his innings but only three other players could reach double figures. Opening partner Nehamiah Odhiambo (13) struck 12 of his runs in boundaries, Collins Obuya made 10 in nine balls and Shem Ngoche cracked 20 in 16 deliveries.
Dilhara Lokuhettige (3-20) and Ramith Rambukwella (3-23) shared six wickets while Seekkuge Prasanna and Jeewan Mendis took one apiece.
Odhiambo struck to remove Shehan Jayasuriya for two before Dhanushka Gunathilleke made 37 and captain Dinesh Chandimal 26 to revive the innings.
Tikolo bowler Gunathilleke and Elijah Otieno had Chandimal caught by Odhiamo before Lahiru Thirimanne, unbeaten on 36 in 26 balls, saw his side home alongside Mendis, who hit a quickfire 16 in nine balls.
Tikolo struck again to remove Ashan Priyanjan for four but the Sri Lankans needed just 17.3 overs to go 1-0 up in the seven-match series.
The next two matches are both played on Tuesday 29th October.
