Pace bowler Steffan Jones is to return to Derbyshire on a permanent deal after spending the end of the 2009 season on loan from Somerset.
Jones, 35, has signed a two-year contract which will see him take on a coaching role as well as his playing duties and he will be looking to emulate his 2009 performance, which saw him take 30 wickets in nine matches.
It was his second spell with the club having taken 59 wickets in 2006 and he also scored two half-centuries last season as Derbyshire made a push for promotion in the LV County Championship that lasted until the penultimate day of the season.
“Steffan has been an excellent addition to our bowling attack since we brought him in on loan and we are delighted to have secured his services on a more permanent basis," Head of Cricket John Morris said.
“Batsmen always know they are in a battle when Steffan is bowling at them and his excellent level of fitness and professionalism is a fine example to other cricketers.”
Jones, born in Llanelli, has also played for Northamptonshire and Kent as well as Somerset, Cambridge University and Wales Minor Counties.
