A host of celebrities and special guests swapped glitter balls for cricket balls as a Strictly Come Dancing XI took on a Lord's Taverner's XI at Wormsley.

The Strictly Come Dancing XI emerged victorious by 40 runs as Wormsley provided a stunning backdrop to a day of fund-raising, cricket and special events.

On the field Brendan Cole, Victoria Pendleton and Conrad Murray played starring roles as the Strictly team reached 170 from their 20 overs.

That was enough to set up victory despite Cricket AM presenter Matt Floyd top scoring for the Lord's Taverners.

Former England players Andrew Caddick and Matthew Hoggard also took part along with a number of other guests.

Hoggard even kept wicket but it was Pendleton who took home the 'Man of the Match' award, after a brilliant fielding display, a not out on debut and for wearing one of the Strictly Come Dancing dresses for the auction, which helped raise vital funds for the Lord's Taverners.

Strictly star Cole said: "It was great to get my whites back on today for the Lord’s Taverners and share the floor with some cricketing greats at the same time.

"Cricket players have always done well on the show, and it was good to see that the roles were reversed a bit today!

"It was a fantastic day and a pleasure to be a part of it!"
