England will be forced into making at least one change to their side for the second and final Test against Sri Lanka as Stuart Broad has been ruled out with a calf injury.
With the tourists 1-0 down in the series, the Nottinghamshire all-rounder will miss the match which begins in Colombo on 3rd April.
A scan confirmed that Broad has a right calf strain and is to return to the United Kingdom immediately, where further assessment will determine his recovery time.
England have opted not to call up a replacement player, with Tim Bresnan or Steven Finn likely to replace Broad in the side although both could feasibly play if England decide on a three-pronged pace attack.
England lost the opening match by 75 runs in Galle.
