Styris Signs For Durham

New Zealander Scott Styris will join Durham County Cricket Club on a short term contract in early June as a second overseas player.

Styris, will join the set up at Durham at the earliest opportunity although it is likely that, due to international commitments, he will only feature in the Durham side until August.

Styris, who has played for Auckland, Northern Districts and Middlesex has represented New Zealand in 27 Tests and 133 One Day Internationals, racking up over 16,000 runs and taking 626 wickets in his career.

Head Coach Geoff Cook said, "Scott is a top player and will undoubtedly be a great asset to the Club, he put in some great performances in the World Cup and I'm sure he'll be a great contributor to the team. We're looking to build upon a good start to the season by recruiting someone who is not only a world class batsman but who will also provide valuable bowling support as we still have a Lord's final and long overdue Twenty20 Cup success in our sights."

Chief Executive David Harker said, "With three of our players being called up for international duty it is vital that we maintain a competitive edge as well as balancing the youth and experience within the squad."
