The England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have confirmed that Andrew Flintoff will play no part in the rest of England's summer programme as he is set to undergo knee surgery.

Flintoff, who ended his Test career with Ashes victory at The Oval, will undergo exploratory arthroscopic surgery on his right knee on Tuesday.

Jonathan Trott will replace him in the squad to take on Ireland in a One-Day International on Thursday 27th August but the selectors have decided against naming a replacement for the seven-match ODI series against Australia and the two Twenty20 Internationals.

A decision on naming a replacement for the ICC Champions Trophy in September has not yet been made.
