19-year-olds Zafar Ansari and Tom Jewell have signed their first professional contracts at Surrey with both players being given two-year deals.
They follow Matthew Dunn, Jason Roy, Tom Lancefield and Rory Burns in signing professional contracts this winter.
Jewell is an all-rounder while Ansari is a left-hand batsman and both are products of the Surrey Academy.
“Zafar and Tom are two more fine additions to our playing staff. They are both very adaptable cricketers and give us a wealth of options with both bat and ball," Professional Cricket Manager at Surrey Chris Adams told the club's website (www.britoval.com).
“The fact they have been handed two year deals shows the worth we place in both players and I look forward to working with both of them over the coming years.”
Jewell added: “I’m absolutely delighted, finally all the hard work I’ve done at the PG Academy has paid off! I’ve had a taste of first team action and it’s let me know where I need to be to be able to get in the four day side and stay there.”
Ansari said: “I’ve been with Surrey since I was nine, so get a contract with the Club you’ve played at all your life is fantastic. The summer contract is brilliant because it gives me the opportunity to work during term time but combine with playing up there and then for Surrey when I get back down here.”
