Sussex Confirm Warwickshire Approach For Mushtaq

One day after Sussex moved to refute media reports that Warwickshire had made an official approach for spinner Mushtaq Ahmed, the county have confirmed that an official request arrived from the Edgbaston based county today.

The Pakistan ex-Surrey and Somerset player's current contract expires at the end of this season, and as per ECB regulations Warwickshire will only be allowed to talk to the player from September 4th, 2007.

Sussex were reportedly in contract discussions with the player although it now appears likely that those talks will not be concluded until after Warwickshire have spoken with Mushtaq.
