The stars of Sussex County Cricket Club have made a declaration; that they very much like the new green way they have of getting to the green, green grass of Hove and it’s all thanks to Ford and to Apex Car Rental.
Apex, Sussex CCC’s new official vehicle partner, has provided the newly promoted LV=County Championship Division One side with a fleet of new Ford models for use by the players – including England star Monty Panesar, vice-captain Murray Goodwin and overseas star Rana Naved-ul-Hasan, as well as the County’s backroom staff.
And in a further boost to the Club, Apex have also agreed to sponsor the brand new 1,700 seater South-West Stand at The PROBIZ County Ground, Hove.
The 15 vehicles selected include Mondeo and Focus ECOnetic models, as well as the AWD crossover emissions class-leading Kuga. Three transit vans are used as kit vans for both the first and second eleven sides, and one for the ground staff.
Sussex are bowled over by the cars’ green credentials, “We are very much aiming to reduce the club’s carbon footprint,” said SCCC Marketing & Communications Manager Trevor Mould, “and the adoption on to our fleet of these latest Ford models has helped significantly with that aim. And of course the players find them ideal for their needs.”
The new Fords were provided through Eastbourne-based Apex, one of the leading long-term and daily rental companies in the south of England and a solus Ford customer which this year alone will take delivery of 8000 Ford vehicles.
"We have been a club supporter for many seasons," said Apex Car Rental managing director Roland Standley. "It is great not only to see the Sussex players enjoying their new Fords but also that the County is taking environmental issues to heart and working hard to achieve a reduction in emissions."
Ford’s director of fleet development, Russell McGill, added: "Sussex County Cricket Club’s fleet choice is a good demonstration of how any organisation seeking to reduce its carbon footprint can go a long way towards achieving its target with a carefully considered fleet policy which includes the latest models from Ford’s environmentally advanced range."
