Sussex CCC are delighted to announce the renewal of their community partnership with Southern Rail.
The partnership allows Sussex Cricket to further widen its community offering, providing meaningful quality cricket provision for those without it. The community program offers extremely successful health, education and inclusion projects Sussex wide, and has contributed to a constant rise in cricket related participation for the last 7 years.
Chief Executive of Sussex Cricket Dave Brooks said "Without the support of our Community partners our programs would not be anything like as wide reaching. We are thrilled that this continued partnership with Southern Rail enables us to offer more people, children and adults alike, playing, volunteering, training and employment opportunities they would ordinarily be without."
The renewal of the partnership gave kids from Worthing Cricket Club the chance to travel on a train accompanied by Sid the Shark for Monday’s game versus the Netherlands. This prompted chaotic but hilarious scenes, and even the Police got involved and enjoyed the fun. Even better than that, the Sussex Sharks won!
Sarah Morrison Southern’s CSR & Partnership Manager said “We are delighted to be partnering with Sussex and its fantastic community programme for another year as they do a great job supporting communities around our network. To celebrate our partnership we took Sid the Shark and junior players from Worthing Cricket Club on the train to see Sussex play at their home ground in Hove and the kids had a great time - it’s not every day you get the chance to travel by train with a shark!"
