The EMCEL Festival of Cricket at Horsham begins on Wednesday 18th August when Sussex County Cricket Club take on Derbyshire in the LV=County Championship, followed by a Clydesdale Bank 40 encounter with Somerset on Sunday 22nd August. EMCEL Filters Ltd, the Horsham based designers and manufacturers of air filtration equipment, are proud to sponsor the Horsham Festival of Cricket for the fourth year running.

Horsham has hosted county cricket regularly for over 100 seasons and once again Sussex will be taking first-class cricket to the ground with a five-day festival. They are currently top of the LV=CC Second Division, hoping for a quick return to the top-flight, and they have also kept their hopes alive of a possible hat-trick of 40 over titles following the two previous years’ wins, after impressive recent victories over Lancashire Lightning and Surrey Lions in Group A of the CB40.

The game against Somerset at Horsham is crucial to the Sharks’ chances of qualifying for the semi-finals of the competition and their array of international talent such as Mike Yardy, Luke Wright, Monty Panesar and Yasir Arafat will clash with Somerset stars Marcus Trescothick, Craig Kieswetter and Murali Kartik in what promises to be a mouthwatering encounter. A victory could see the Sharks keep in with a shout of another final at Lord’s in September.

Chris Nash, the Sussex all-rounder who played at Horsham as a youngster and is a product of the county’s prolific youth system, said the festival is always a highlight in the season. “It’s great that we still get to take first-class cricket to the outgrounds in the county and obviously Horsham is a very special place to play for me personally to play cricket.”

“The last couple of Championship games there have ended in draws so we’ll really be looking to press home our advantage this year and increase our chances of winning promotion back to Division One”, he added.

EMCEL began sponsoring the event in 2007, as a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the company. EMCEL Sales and Marketing Manager Steve Ashmore said “Each year our sponsorship of the festival has been a huge success in terms of delivering a superb hospitality package to EMCEL guests, plus attracting large numbers of cricket fans to Horsham”.

“My thanks go to the many staff and helpers at the Horsham ground and the catering staff from Sussex CCC who combine to always make this such a memorable and enjoyable event for us”, he added.

Tickets are available for all days of the LV=CC game against Derbyshire and the CB40 match with Somerset, and they can be booked via www.sussexcricket.co.uk or by calling 0844 264 0206
