Bangladesh opening batsman Tamim Iqbal has been ruled out of the ongoing tour of South Africa following a thigh injury.
The 28-year-old sustained the blow during a practice session ahead of the first Test in Potchefstroom and is understood to have aggravated the injury that forced him to miss the second Test and also the opening One-Day International in Kimberley.
Tamim will head back to home on Sunday and is set to undergo a lengthy rehabilitation that might even see him miss the opening two weeks of the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League.
Meanwhile, Mominul Haque, who is part of the ODI squad will remain with the team for the Twenty20 International series to follow as a replacement for Tamim.
Earlier, Bangladesh lost the services of their ace pace bowler Mustafizur Rahman due to an ankle injury and he was replaced in the squad by Shafiul Islam.
Having already lost the ODI series 2-0, Bangladesh will take on South Africa in the third and final ODI at Buffalo Park on Sunday.
