India have named a 16-man squad for their upcoming One-Day International series in South Africa, recalling leg-spinner Piyush Chawla and leaving out fast bowler Ishant Sharma as well as all-rounder Ravi Jadeja.
Sachin Tendulkar returns to the squad and is set to play an ODI for the first time since the series against South Africa in India in February, when he scored a double-century in Gwalior.
Chawla joins left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha and off-spinner Harbhajan Singh in the squad which is likely to bear a strong resemblance to India's final 15-man squad for the World Cup, which they will co-host along with Bangladesh and Sri Lanka from February until April.
Chawla's last ODI appearance came in 2008.
India play five One-Day Internationals against South Africa from 11th to 23rd January as well as Twenty20 International in Durban on 9th January.
