South African all-rounder Rory Kleinveldt has been ruled out of the remainder of the One-Day International series against Sri Lanka with a thigh injury.

Kleinveldt had been in the frame to make his ODI debut in the second game in East London on 14th January but has now been ruled out of action for up to six weeks.

As Cricket South Africa (CSA) named a squad for only the first two matches in the five-game series, no replacement player will be named until after the second match.

"It is an unfortunate setback for Rory (Kleinveldt), he joined the squad with a reported strained quadricep muscle after a Supersport Series match for the Cape Cobras and upon further inspection an ultra-sound scan detected a tear, which the medical team did not want to aggravate," team manager Dr. Moosajee confirmed.

South Africa lead the series 1-0 after a thumping 258-run win in the opening match in Paarl where Sri Lanka were bowled out for 43.
