Three From Three For Harrogate
Harrogate made it three ECB Yorkshire League wins out of three as they beat Driffield at home by seven wickets.
Spinner Andy Laws took five for 32 as Driffield were bowled out for 164, of which Ali Asad made 54. Alexis Twigg then led Harrogate to victory with an innings of 66.
Champions York gained a 64-run win at Rotherham with leg-spinner Tom Pringle taking five for 18 as Rotherham were restricted to 133 for nine in reply to York’s total of 197 for seven. Top scorer for York was Yorkshire player Jack Leaning with 85.
Yorkshire Academy gained a four-wicket win at Sheffield Collegiate after bowling out the home side for a mere 58 in 24 overs. Yorkshire second-team player Ryan Gibson took three wickets for one run in two overs while Matt Waite took three for 16. Former Yorkshire wicket-keeper Simon Guy, with 27, was the only Collegiate batsman to reach double figures.
Cleethorpes gained their first win of season - a six-wicket triumph at Scarborough. The home side were bowled out for 132 with Alex Osmond taking four for 32 and Alex Willerton three for 26 as Scarborough found runs had to come by on their own ground.
Theo Smith was their top scorer with 44 and shared a seventh-wicket stand of 59 with Jonathan Read.
Osmond then completed a fine all-round performance, scoring 62 with ten fours and two sixes while Harry Warwick made 40 not not as Cleethorpes completed a comfortable victory.
Appleby Frodingham beat Castleford at home by six wickets after successfully chasing down the visitors' total of 206 for seven. Castleford were indebted to Liam Hyde, who made a defiant 58 not out, but it was not enough to deny the home team.
Barnsley were the highest scorers of the day, totalling 273 for seven to set up a 34-run home win over Sheffield United. Zohaib Ahmad was top scorer with 81 for Barnsley and then off-spinner Ali Jahangir took five for 63 as United were restricted to 239 for nine.
Chamal Rajapaksha made a valiant 67 for United.
