Thwaites Tee Off Chilton's Benefit Year Fundraiser
Leading Lancashire brewer Daniel Thwaites has continued its proud tradition of supporting Lancashire County Cricket Club player benefit years, with Mark Chilton the latest beneficiary.
Thwaites, who are official sponsors of Lancashire CCC with Wainwright beer logo displayed on the club’s shirts, sponsored a star-studded golf day at Blackburn’s Wilpshire Golf Club to raise funds for the former captain.
Mark ‘Chilly’ Chilton, who made his debut in 1997, joins a long list of Lancashire stars who Thwaites have supported, including former England captain Michael Atherton and Lancashire and England legend Andrew Flintoff.
Joining Chilly playing the challenging Wilpshire course were a host of current and former Lancashire players including Gareth Cross, Stephen Moore, Paul Horton, Karl Brown and former captain and England wicket-keeper, Warren Hegg. Lee Williams, Brands Manager for Daniel Thwaites, led the sponsor’s party which consisted of customers, suppliers and VIP guests.
Commenting on the golf day Lee Williams said: “Daniel Thwaites has supported every player Benefit Year since Neil Fairbrother’s in 1995 and we are immensely proud to be supporting Mark Chilton this season. Mark has been a crucial part of the Lancashire team for more than a decade and we all wish Mark the best of luck for the rest of his benefit year and the season with Lancashire.”
Mark Chilton added: “Thwaites is a loyal supporter of Lancashire CCC and the player benefit years and I am very grateful that they are supporting mine this year. It’s an honour to play cricket for such a fantastic county and a huge privilege to be awarded a benefit year.”
Gold Award* winning Thwaites Wainwright is a golden ale named after Lancashire author, Alfred Wainwright. With refreshing fruit flavours and a hint of sweetness, the 4.1% straw-coloured beer is intrinsically linked with the outdoor lifestyle and walks and a perfect beer for the summer cricketing months.
