West Indies Fined For Slow Over-Rate During Tie

Following the tie with South Africa that knocked them out of the ICC Champions Trophy, West Indies' miserable day got worse when they were fined for maintaining a slow over-rate. They were deemed to be one over short of their target at the end of South Africa's innngs of 230 for six in 31 overs during a rain-affected match.

Dramatic Tie Puts South Africa Through, West Indies Depart

West Indies were left to rue the extraordinarily bad timing of Kieron Pollard losing his wicket as they ended up sharing a Duckworth/Lewis method tie which knocked them out of the ICC Champions Trophy 2013. Chasing 231 to win in 31 overs, and with his side just ahead on the Duckworth/Lewis method, Pollard was caught by Dale Steyn off Ryan McLaren, leaving the scores effectively level when the players left the field moments later.

Sangakkara And Kulasekara Star In Sri Lanka Win

Kumar Sangakkara hit an unbeaten century, while Nuwan Kulasekara provided some late sparkle, as Sri Lanka kept their hopes alive in the ICC Champions Trophy with a seven-wicket victory over the hosts under The Oval floodlights. Ravi Bopara had earlier hauled England up to 293 for seven at the end of an innings which had followed a similar path to the one against Australia.

The ICC Champions Trophy 2013 Group A match between Australia and New Zealand at Edgbaston was abandoned due to rain with New Zealand on 51 for two chasing a target of 244. Mitchell McClenaghan took four wickets for the second match in a row to restrict Australia to 243 for eight but the match was in the balance when New Zealand lost two early wickets.

Ramdin Fined And Banned For Spirit Of Cricket Breach

West Indies wicket-keeper Denesh Ramdin has been found guilty of conduct contrary to the spirit of the game and has been fined and banned after he claimed a catch that wasn't cleanly taken against Pakistan in the Champions Trophy 2013. He pleaded not guilty to the charge at an International Cricket Council (ICC) hearing but was nevertheless found guilty of a Level Two breach of the ICC Code of Conduct.

West Indies gained victory over Pakistan in a low-scoring start to their ICC Champions Trophy campaign and captain Dwayne Bravo was pleased with his team's performance as they bowled Pakistan out for just 170 in a hard-fought two-wicket win at the Oval last Friday. Bravo was happy with the two points earned, seeing the West Indies move to the top of Group B.
