Narine, West Indies Boosted By Warm-Up Victory

West Indies spinner Sunil Narine has recently become the number one-ranked One-Day International bowler according to the ICC rankings and he showed exactly why when taking two for 26 during his side's 17-run win over Sri Lanka in their final warm-up game ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2013. It was a confidence boost for the 2004 champions after they had been well beaten at the weekend by Australia and has given Narine a lift ahead of their opening game against Pakistan on Friday.

West Indies Hold Off Battling Sri Lanka At Edgbaston

West Indies held off a spirited late fightback by Sri Lanka to register a 17-run win in both sides' final warm-up match ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2013. Half-centuries from Darren Bravo (71), Johnson Charles (58) and Ramnaresh Sarwan (55) helped the 2004 champions reach 297 for eight before Sri Lanka were bowled out for 280 in 47 overs.

South Africa have added Quinton de Kock to their group as an unofficial member of their ICC Champions Trophy squad as Dale Steyn, Robin Peterson picked up injuries during their warm-up defeat to Pakistan. De Kock has been added to the group as cover for captain and wicket-keeper AB de Villiers as South Africa are putting plans in place to cover any further injury problems.

Pakistan Outplay South Africa For Six-Wicket Win

Pakistan powered to a six-wicket win over South Africa to lay down a significant marker ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2013, where the two sides will meet in the group stages. A fine performance in the field from Pakistan enabled them to dismiss South Africa for 202 and as Imran Farhat and Mohammad Hafeez both scored half-centuries, they reached their target with 27 balls to spare.

Watson Ton Helps Australia Ease To Victory

Good performances from Shane Watson, Mitchell Starc and Clint McKay led Australia to a relatively comfortable warm-up win over the West Indies under the Cardiff floodlights. Kemar Roach did extract both David Warner and Phil Hughes in his opening over as Australia suffered a nightmare start to their pursuit of the West Indies' 256 for nine. However, Watson hit a superb 135 off only 98 balls and found enough support from the middle-order to guide them to victory.

Lokuhettige Replaces Injured Welagedara For Sri Lanka

Dilhara Lokuhettige has been called up to replace fellow fast bowler Chanaka Welagedara in Sri Lanka's 15-man squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2013. Welagedara suffered an injury to his right foot and ankle and underwent scans, the results of which have forced him out of the reckoning for the tournament, which is held in England and Wales between 6th and 23rd June.

ICC Champions Trophy Warm-Up Games Revealed

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed the schedule of warm-up matches ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2013, which will be held from 30th May to 4th June. The tournament itself gets underway on 6th June and the warm-up matches will be held in the same venues as the competition - The Oval, Edgbaston and the Cardiff Wales Stadium.

Graeme Smith Out Of Champions Trophy

South Africa have been dealt an unfortunate blow after former captain Graeme Smith was ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy 2013 with an injury to his left ankle. Scans revealed a stress fracture to the ankle with which he has had trouble with in the past, including undergoing surgery last year, although it still caused him to miss matches in March and he did not take part in the 2013 Indian Premier League.

Bopara, Bresnan Recalled For England's Trophy Bid

England have named their 15-man squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2013, recalling Tim Bresnan and Ravi Bopara ready for an attempt to go one better than the last time they hosted in 2004. Bopara and Bresnan are the only two players included in the squad who weren't involved in the 2-1 series in in New Zealand, and the same squad will play three One-Day Internationals against New Zealand in late May.
