Sri Lanka Recall Welagedara For Champions Trophy

Sri Lanka have banked largely on experience in naming their 15-man squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2013 by recalling Chanaka Welagedara. There were four uncapped players in their provisional squad but none have made it through to the final squad, which will be led by Angelo Mathews.

Duminy, Miller In As Kallis Opts Out Of Champions Trophy

South Africa have included recovering batsman JP Duminy in their 15-man squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2013 although Jacques Kallis will play no part in the tournament. The experienced all-rounder has made himself unavailable due to personal reasons but with Duminy returning, and the in-form David Miller also included, the squad is not short of batting options.

Australia have named their 15-man squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2013 where they will be defending the titles they won in both 2006 and 2009. George Bailey has been named as the vice-captain to Michael Clarke after Shane Watson stood down as vice-captain last month.

Pakistan have named their 15-man squad for the forthcoming ICC Champions Trophy, which will be held in England this June. Shahid Afridi's axing is the big news, although Umar Akmal and Younus Khan have also been dropped from the team that narrowly lost a five-match series in South Africa in March.

Knee Injury Rules Pietersen Out Of Champions Trophy

England batsman Kevin Pietersen has suffered a further injury setback with the news that his knee injury will keep him out of the Champions Trophy as well as the New Zealand Test series. Having left the tour of New Zealand in March early, he was quickly sidelined for the Indian Premier League and the May Tests but this latest news means he will not return to action until the middle of June - too late for him to play in the Champions Trophy.

Pakistan's Champions Trophy Hopes Hit By Gul Withdrawal

Pakistan fast-bowler Umar Gul has been ruled out of the forthcoming ICC Champions Trophy, which will take place in England in June, with a knee injury. He will also miss the One-Day Internationals against Scotland and Ireland next month. Gul first felt discomfort in his knee during the ODI series against South Africa last month and missed the final three matches in the series in order to rest it.

Shehan Jayasuriya, Ishan Jayaratne, Angelo Perera and Milinda Siriwardene are the four uncapped players in the squad while a number of experienced players have earned recalls.

India have not selected senior players Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh or Zaheer Khan in their list of probables for the ICC Champions Trophy, which will be played in England this June. Instead, they have opted for younger players such as Delhi batsman Unmukt Chand and Jammu & Kashmir off-spinner Parvez Rasool.

The West Indies have named four players uncapped at One-Day International level in their 30-man provisional squad for the ICC Champions Trophy. Left-hand batsman Jonathan Carter and left-arm quick Sheldon Cotterell have yet to represent the West Indies in any format while batsman Nkrumah Bonner and pacer Shannon Gabriel have only played Twenty20 and Test cricket before.

Cricket South Africa (CSA) has named its 30-man provisional squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2013, which will be played in England and Wales in June. Batsman Rilee Rossouw is the only player in the squad who has yet to represent South Africa in any format while Chris Morris and Henry Davids have not played One-Day International cricket.

Champions Trophy 2013 Launched In London

Tickets for the ICC Champions Trophy 2013 will go on sale on 5th November after the tournament was officially launched in London. The competition featured the eight highest ranked One-Day International sides in the world and will get underway on 6th June next year with The Oval, Edgbaston and the Cardiff Wales Stadium hosting.
