Morris And Brown Part Company With Derbyshire

Head coach John Morris and assistant coach Andy Morris have left Derbyshire after the club decided not to renew their contracts and released them with immediate effect. Morris' contract was due to expire at the end of September while Morris was contracted until the end of the year.

Khawaja's Derbyshire Debut Delayed Due To Injury

Australian international Usman Khawaja has suffered a thigh injury which has ruled him out of Derbyshire's opening LV= County Championship match against Gloucestershire. Khawaja missed the start of the game before Derbyshire confirmed that he had suffered a thigh strain.

Derbyshire Name New Chairman And Committee

Derbyshire County Cricket Club have appointed Chris Grant as their new chairman following the Annual General Meeting at the County Ground. Phil Kirby has been named as vice-chairman with Derek Morgan announced as new president. David Griffin and Malcolm Nicholas were elected unopposed to the positions of Honorary Secretary and Honorary Treasurer respectively.

Derbyshire have confirmed that Chairman Don Amott has resigned from his position and has left the Derbyshire Committee with immediate effect. Amott, who has been Chairman since 2005, has also resigned from the General Committee.

Five-Year First-Class Deal For Chesterfield Festival

Chesterfield is to host a six day Cricket Festival this August with Derbyshire County Cricket Club (DCCC) as a new five-year contract begins. Chesterfield Borough Council recently penned the new deal with the County Club which secures first-class cricket at the fabulous Queen’s Park in Chesterfield.

Derbyshire Take T20 Cricket Into Staffordshire

Twenty20 cricket will make its Staffordshire debut in June when Derbyshire face Warwickshire at Leek in the Friends Provident t20. Derbyshire Falcons, who have recently announced the overseas signings of Usman Khawaja and Martin Guptill, will return to Highfield on Sunday 26th June with a 12 noon start.

The University of Derby hopes to have played a part in a great season for Derbyshire County Cricket Club after it hosted a pre-season training session for some of the club’s key players this week. Derbyshire County Cricket Club (DCCC) took up the University's offer to use its Strength and Conditioning room at its Kedleston Road site.

Derbyshire Sign Martin Guptill

Derbyshire have unveiled the signing of New Zealand top-order batsman Martin Guptill as their overseas player for the second part of the 2011 county season. Guptill, 24, will replace Australian batsman Usman Khawaja for the second half of the season and will feature in the LV= County Championship and Clydesdale Bank 40 competitions.

Usman Khawaja Signs For Derbyshire

Australian batsman Usman Khawaja has been signed by Derbyshire to fulfil the role of their overseas player for a large portion of the 2011 county season. Khawaja, who made his debut for Australia in the fifth Ashes Test against England in Sydney, is set to join up with Derbyshire in time for the start of the season and be with them until the end of the Friends Provident t20 campaign.

Harris Returns To Derbyshire With Coaching Role

Former Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Gloucestershire, Leicestershire and Worcestershire bowler AJ Harris is set to return to Derbyshire where he will coach the second team. Harris, 37, will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the team in 2011, which will allow Academy Director Karl Krikken to concentrate his efforts fully on youth development.
