Ahead of their three-match Test series against South Africa, the touring Pakistanis drew their only warm-up match with a South African Invitational XI. On the final day, Pakistan declared on 250 for nine, setting the home side 323 to win and thanks to a half-century from captain Justin Ontong, Pakistan's victory chances came to nothing.

Edwards Sets Up England Victory Over South Africa

Captain Charlotte Edwards hit 78 from the to order to set up a 51-run win for England Women over South Africa Women in their 2013 World Cup warm-up match in Mumbai. Although no other player could reach a half-century, England's 270 for nine proved to be beyond South Africa, for whom Trisha Chetty (57) and Mignon du Preez (64 not out) top scored.

Gul And Ajmal Warm-Up For First Test

Following a difficult second half to day one, the Pakistanis were back to near their best on day two to show just why the upcoming Test series against South Africa is so eagerly anticipated. Resuming on 178 for six, they were hauled up to 329 by the overnight pair of Sarfraz Ahmed and Umar Gul. Gul then took two wickets in the ninth over of the South African Invitational XI's reply as they slipped to 31 for three.

Amla, Peterson Ruled Out, Elgar Added To Squad

Hashim Amla and Robin Peterson have been ruled out of the third and final One-Day International against New Zealand in Potchefstroom due to injury. Dean Elgar has been added to the squad as cover for Amla, who has a thigh strain while Peterson split the webbing on his right hand during the second game and will be replaced by Aaron Phangiso.

England Captain Inspired By Girls Disability Sport Day

England Women's Cricket Captain, Charlotte Edwards, took time out of her busy schedule to lend her support to a Cricket for Change organised 'Disability Sport Awareness Day' on the 15th January 2013, which was a focus for girls and young women. The event held at The MCC Indoor School at Lord's Cricket Ground, was in support of the increase in exposure of sportswomen with a disability brought about by the London Paralympic Games, around 150 girls and young women attending from 17 different schools across London.

Sarah Taylor Signs For Walmley Cricket Club

England international wicket-keeper Sarah Taylor has signed to play for Walmley Cricket Club in Sutton Coldfield ahead of the 2013 season. The club plan to field Taylor in their senior men's side and the announcement comes soon after she was linked with a role keeping wicket for Sussex's second team.

England Women's Cricket Captain, Charlotte Edwards, will be lending her support to a Cricket for Change organised Disability Sport Awareness Day on the 15th January 2013 which will be a focus for girls and young women. There are two planned days (the 14th and 15th January), with both being held at The MCC Indoor School at Lord's Cricket Ground (from 10am until 2pm).

De Villiers Takes A Rest, Ontong And McLaren Called Up

South African all-rounder AB de Villiers has withdrawn from the Twenty International series against New Zealand to rest ahead of the Test series that begins next year. Although de Villiers had been named in the squad, he was not due to take on his normal role as captain but after a busy year, he requested to be excused from the series.

South Africa have kept faith in the team that beat Australia in Perth earlier this month in naming a 13-man squad to take on New Zealand in two Tests in January. The 11 players that won by 309 runs to take a 1-0 series win at the WACA are joined by Jacques Rudolph and Rory Kleinveldt as leg-spinner Imran Tahir is left out.

Edwards To Lead England's World Cup Defence

Charlotte Edwards is set for her fifth Women's World Cup after she was named as the captain of England's 15-strong squad for the competition. Edwards led England to the title in 2009 and will take charge again during next year's tournament, which gets underway in India on 31st January.

Michael Lumb joined players from the 16-man England squad at Edgbaston last week as they began preparations for the first ever T20 World Cup for visually impaired cricketers. Warwickshire's Luke Sugg will captain England as they face eight other national teams in Bangalore, India from the 2nd-13th December.

England's Sydney Sixers batsman Michael Lumb has been named as the Cricket World Player Of The Week after his batting helped his side win the Champions League Twenty20 in emphatic style. Lumb top scored in both the semi-final win over Nashua Titans and the final against Highveld Lions to walk off with the golden bat award for leading run-scorer and was also named as man of the match in the final.

Drama As Woodlands Retain League Title

Woodlands retained the JCT 600 Bradford League First Division championship in dramatic circumstances. Four clubs were in with a chance of winning the championship going into the final day of the season and Lightcliffe were set win their first Division One title after gaining maximum 20 points by beating bottom club Undercliffe by 119 as Bradford & Bingley needed only five runs to beat Woodlands with four wickets left.

New Zealand are finalising their preparations for the ICC World Twenty20 two men light after batsman Rob Nicol and Tim Southee were unable to travel to Kandy due to illness. Both players reported feeling unwell - Southee before the warm-up match against South Africa and Nicol - after and will remain in Colombo.

England Women recorded their 16th successive win in Twenty20 Internationals by defeating West Indies Women by eight wickets in the first match of their five match series at Chester-le-Street. Charlotte Edwards and Laura Marsh ensured that England made short work of the tourists' woeful total of 71 for eight and added 59 inside the first seven overs.

Pudsey Congs Beat Woodlands By One Wicket

Pudsey Congs won at leaders Woodlands by one wicket after a dramatic last over on a day of exciting finishes in the JCT 600 Bradford League First Division. It was only Woodlands second defeat of the season. The defending champions posted 201-8 with Simon Mason (44) and Chris Brice putting on 65 for the third wicket and, when Mason was out, Brice continued to hold the innings together finishing on 73 not out.

They bowled out Mills for 131 with overseas player Sarfraz Ahmed taking 5-34 and Pieter Swanepoel 4-42, but they found themselves in trouble after sliding to 64-6 before Sarfraz came to their rescue, guiding them to a two wicket victory with a disciplined innings of 38 not out.

Lumb And Wright Return To England T20 Squad

England have named their squads for the World Twenty20, which begins on 18th September, and for the One-Day International series against South Africa, which begins on 24th August. There are no major surprises in either squad, with Kevin Pietersen missing out due to the ongoing fall-out from the text affair and Stuart Broad being rested for the ODI series against South Africa. Luke Wright and Michael Lumb return to help defend the World T20 which they helped win in 2010.

Woodlands' 15-Match Unbeaten Run Ends

Leaders Woodlands’ 15-match unbeaten run came to an end when they suffered a 51-run home defeat against Lightcliffe to give renewed hope to the chasing pack in the First Division title race. Chris Taylor made 63 and Alex Stead 55 to enable Lightcliffe to reach 220-6 before bowling out the defending champions for 169, slow left arm bowler Chris Greenwood taking 3-58. Woodlands’ top scorers were opener Sam Frankland with 48 and Chris Brice 34.
