The Point Receives Gold Award For Being Green

The Point, the eye-catching red conference and events venue at Old Trafford Cricket Ground, is now officially ‘green’ after receiving an award from the Green Tourism Business Scheme, a national sustainable tourism certification scheme for the UK. A qualified assessor for the Green Tourism Business Scheme undertook an accreditation grading visit of the venue recently, which resulted in The Point achieving Gold level.

Winners were announced at the third annual LCB Outstanding Service to Cricket Awards (OSCAs) celebration dinner on 15th July 2011 in The Point (Old Trafford County Cricket Ground). The evening held in association with Headline Partners Metrolink and Audio Visual Sponsor Keyteq Presentation Services Ltd (Keyteq).

One Not Out - The Point Celebrates Its First Birthday

The Point at Lancashire County Cricket Club has celebrated its first year in business by holding a birthday lunch to say thank you to the many organisers they have worked with over the last 12 months. Guest of honour at the celebration was Andrew 'Freddie' Flintoff who took part in a humorous Q & A session and picked out one lucky raffle winner who received a signed Freddie shirt. The Money raised from the raffle is being shared between the LCCC Development Fund, Macmillan Cancer Support and Freddie's own charity, the AF Foundation.

Lancashire Fined £250 For Registration Error

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has confirmed that Lancashire have been handed a fine of £250 for fielding an unregistered player last month. Pakistan international Junaid Khan played in a Friends Life t20 match and an LV= County Championship game before his registration had been approved by the ECB.

The Point - One Year Not Out

On the 5th July, The Point at Lancashire County Cricket Club will celebrate its first birthday. Plans for the celebrations are now well underway and Lancashire cricketing hero, Andrew 'Freddie' Flintoff, stopped by the kitchens to lend a hand. The multi-million pound conference and events venue has enjoyed growing success since it was opened in 2010 by Andrew Flintoff and Robert Hough, Chairman of the Northwest Regional Development Agency.

Lancashire Replace Maharoof With Junaid Khan

Lancashire have moved to replace Farveez Maharoof with Pakistan quick bowler Junaid Khan in time for the remainder of their Friends Life t20 campaign. Maharoof was added to Sri Lanka's Test squad when Nuwan Pradeep was ruled out through injury and has played in both Tests against England.

Lancashire Lightning Go Green For Macmillan

The Red Rose County take on their White Rose rivals in the Friends Life t20 this Friday (10 June) but the team’s traditional red shirts will be missing. Instead, to raise awareness for LCCC's official charity partner, Macmillan Cancer Support, the players will be wearing special edition green shirts and caps.

The Point at Lancashire County Cricket Club recently teamed up with one of their preferred AV partners, Blitz Communications, to bring a complimentary training course for professional event organisers to the North West for the first time. The day was dedicated to introducing a range of bespoke Blitz products and new technologies that assist organisers in making their events more cost effective, sustainable, interactive and innovative, and at the same time creating opportunities to generate additional revenue.

The FA Cup Arrives At Old Trafford

The FA Cup made its first public appearance following the Wembley final when it was paraded in front of a 600-strong audience attending Fashion Kicks 2011 at The Point at Old Trafford Cricket Ground. Hosted by Manchester City and Republic of Ireland International goalkeeper Shay Given, and his wife Jane, Fashion Kicks 2011 took place at the newly developed 1,000-seat conference and banqueting venue on Sunday 15th May in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, Beechwood Cancer Care Centre and the Adopt a School project.

Thwaites Tee Off Chilton's Benefit Year Fundraiser

Leading Lancashire brewer Daniel Thwaites has continued its proud tradition of supporting Lancashire County Cricket Club player benefit years, with Mark Chilton the latest beneficiary. Thwaites, who are official sponsors of Lancashire CCC with Wainwright beer logo displayed on the club's shirts, sponsored a star-studded golf day at Blackburn's Wilpshire Golf Club to raise funds for the former captain.

Lancashire have named a 13-man squad for their LV= County Championship clash with Warwickshire that begins on 4th May, including James Anderson in their squad. Fast bowler Anderson, who was part of England's squads during the Ashes success and the World Cup campaign this winter, has been made available for the match by the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB).

Lancashire head coach Peter Moores has named a 14-man squad for his side's LV= County Championship match against Sussex which gets underway at Hove on 26th April. The two sides met in the opening match of the season in Liverpool, where Lancashire scored an emphatic innings-and-55-run win.

Lancashire's new overseas signing Farveez Maharoof has been included in Lancashire's 13-man squad for the LV= County Championship match with Somerset at Liverpool. Lancashire will be aiming to build on a strong start to the season which saw them comfortably beat head coach Peter Moores' old side Sussex before they were not in competitive action last week.

Lancashire Name Squad To Take On Sussex

Lancashire have handed 22-year-old batsman Karl Brown the opportunity to prove himself by including him in a 13-man squad to play Sussex in the LV= County Championship opener in Liverpool. BDP's Manchester lighting designers beat off stiff competition to take the top prize for The Point, the new 1,000-seat conference and banqueting venue at Lancashire County Cricket Club.

Maharoof Set For County Stint With Lancashire

Lancashire have announced the signing of Sri Lankan all-rounder Farveez Maharoof as their overseas player for the 2011 county season. Maharoof, 26, will be available for the entire season and has played in 20 Test matches and 91 One-Day Internationals for Sri Lanka, as well as representing the Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League.

Lancashire Honour Brian Statham With New End Name

Bowlers at Old Trafford will be running in from the Pavilion End and the Statham End from the start of the 2011 season, the club has confirmed. Part of the Lancashire County Cricket Club’s redevelopment has seen the square turned 90 degrees at the end of last season to prevent play being lost due to the setting sun in September and to provide some additional wickets.
