Cleckheaton are the new leaders of the JCT 600 Bradford League First Division. They took over at the top after beating Pudsey St Lawrence by eight wickets while leaders Woodlands lost by 40 runs at Lightcliffe.

Furness Extend Their Lead As Rain Hits Opponents

Furness took advantage of a weather-affected draw by their rivals Cleator to move even further clear at the top of the North Lancashire and Cumbria League Premier Division. While they beat Millom by seven wickets, Cleator's match with Haverigg ended without a positive result, enabling Furness (175 points) to stretch their lead to 26.

JCT600 Bradford League Race Blown Wide Open

The JCT 600 Bradford League First Division race was blown open as Woodlands' lead at the top was cut to a single point after the defending champions suffered their second defeat in a row. The leaders, lacking long-term injury victim, all-rounder Chris Brice and opener Scott Richardson, suffered a 29-run home defeat against relegation threatened Baildon while their nearest challengers Cleckheaton followed up their home win over Woodlands the week before by beating Pudsey Congs.

The Black Caps have introduced several new faces to their international squads over the past 12 months and some of those have been rewarded with a place in the new list. Vettori Declines New Zealand Central Contract

Former New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori has turned down a New Zealand Cricket (NZC) central contract as he continues to battle against an Achilles injury. Facing a spell of anything between three to six months on the sidelines following surgery, the 34-year-old left-arm spinner feels it would be inappropriate to take up a contract with either New Zealand, or his domestic side, Northern Districts.

New Zealand Quick Chris Martin Retires

New Zealand fast bowler Chris Martin has confirmed his retirement from the game, departing as New Zealand's third most prolific wicket-taker in Test match cricket. After making his debut in 2000, he played 71 Tests, 20 One-Day Internationals and six Twenty20 Internationals, ending with 233 Test wickets.

Ealing And Hampstead Stay Ahead Of Rivals

Ealing (61 points) and Hampstead (59) remain well clear of their competitors in the 2013 Middlesex ECB Premier League after both teams won again this weekend. Ealing beat third-placed Richmond by nine wickets while Hampstead claimed a 57-run win over Teddington. There were also wins for Stanmore, Twickenham and Winchmore Hill, all leaving Richmond, Teddington and Winchmore Hill with 35 points in third place.

Hertford Take Over Top Spot After Another Win

The battle between Totteridge Milhillians and Old Finchleians at the top of the Saracens Hertfordshire Cricket League Division One has been well and truly joined by new leaders Hertford. Last week, Hertford took advantage of a slip by Old Finchleains to move into second and now they lead Totteridge by two points and Finchleians by 11.

Final England-New Zealand T20 Match Abandoned

The second and final Twenty20 International between England and New Zealand at The Oval was abandoned due to rain after just two balls were bowled. In those two balls before the rain set in, Michael Lumb was brilliantly caught by Brendon McCullum off Mitchell McClenaghan but no further play handed New Zealand a 1-0 series win.

Promoted Sides Continues To Struggle

Last season's promoted pair Baildon and Morley continue to find life difficult in Division One of the JCT 600 Bradford League as they suffered yet more defeats. Bottom club Morley lost a low scoring match at home to East Bierley while last season's Second Division champions Baildon were beaten at home by neighbours Saltaire, who are also struggling near the bottom of the table.

England Fall Short In Run-Fest

The first balls of the final two overs both went for six but England ended narrowly short in a 20-over run chase for the second time in three days as New Zealand won a high-scoring thriller at The Oval. Set an imposing 202 for victory after a boundary barrage from Brendon McCullum and Hamish Rutherford, England began well but looked to be slipping behind around the time of their captain Eoin Morgan's dismissal in the 14th over.

Haverigg Dodge Showers To Make Progress

It was a difficult day for all concerned in the North Lancashire and Cumbria Premier Division as only one match, Haverigg's 175-run victory over Lindal Moor, was played to completion. No play was possible between Keswick and Carlisle and with the other four matches all rain-affected draws, there has been little change in the standings.

Hampstead Close The Gap On Ealing

Hampstead beat Stanmore by 26 runs to move to within two points of 2013 Middlesex ECB Premier League leaders Ealing, who went down by two wickets to Twickenham. They are on 51 points with Hampstead on 49 and Teddington in third on 35 alongside Richmond after wins over Winchmore Hill and Eastcote respectively.

Totteridge Milhillians have extended their lead at the top of the Saracens Hertfordshire Cricket League Division One to 14 points after challengers Old Fincleians slipped up. Hertford have taken over in second place, with 141 points to Totteridge's 155 and Old Finchleians are two points further back with 139.

New Zealand Take Comfortable Win Over Kent

New Zealand warmed up for their two-match Twenty20 International series with England by comfortably beating Kent by 42 runs at Canterbury. Batting first, half-centuries from Martin Guptill and Ross Taylor helped them post 185 for seven, a score that proved well beyond Kent, who closed on 143 for seven.

Vettori Undergoes Surgery, Misses England T20s

Former New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori will miss the two Twenty20 Internationals against England after undergoing surgery on his troublesome left Achilles. Along with Grant Elliott and Tim Southee who picked up injuries during the ICC Champions Trophy 2013, he misses out on the pair of games at The Oval on 25th and 27th June.

Metcalfe Reaches Milestone In Farsley Win

Former Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire batsman Ashley Metcalfe reached an important landmark in his long career when he became only the second player in the history of the JCT 600 Bradford League to score 16,000 runs. Metcalfe, who has been playing in the league for 30 years, scored the three runs he needed in an innings of 13 to pass that coveted landmark while playing in a Second Division match for leaders Farsley against Gomersal.
