Chasing 167 to win, Rajasthan slipped to 28 for four and 88 for six but it took the return of Lasith Malinga to finally see off Rajasthan, who closed on 152 for seven.

Australia were only able to add nine runs to their overnight score before they were bowled out for 241 in their second innings, and India reached 50 for the loss of two wickets to go 1-0 up in the four-match series.

While it could have been a lot worse for the tourists had Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli not fallen cheaply, it could and should have been a lot better. Dropped catches allowed Virender Sehwag and Kohli extra opportunities and while Kohli couldn't take advantage, Sehwag certainly did. Gautam Gambhir might have been stumped and Cheteshwar Pujara could have been caught by James Anderson but for a misjudgment.
