Tendulkar Falls Short Of Landmark Century

Indian batsmen Sachin Tendulkar fell just six runs short of a 100th international century early on day four of the third and final Test against the West Indies in Mumbai. With his side on 322 for four having lost VVS Laxman for 32, Tendulkar edged Ravi Rampaul to Darren Sammy at slip and left the field much to the disappointment of the huge crowd at the Wankhede Stadium.

Sachin Tendulkar fell short of his 100th international hundred but VVS Laxman closed on 61 not out to steer India to a five-wicket win over the West Indies in the opening Test in Delhi. Tendulkar was trapped in front for 76 by leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo but he had done enough, along with Laxman, to put his side in position to take their first win in six matches, eventually closing on 276 for five in their second innings.

Amla, Cook, Tendulkar, Trott Short-Listed For Top ICC Award

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has short-listed Hashim Amla, Alastair Cook, Sachin Tendulkar and Jonathan Trott for the ICC Cricketer of the Year award which will be handed out on 12th September in London. An independent 25-person academy whittled down the long list to those four names while Cook and Trott are also short-listed for the Test Cricketer of the Year award, along with James Anderson and Jacques Kallis.
