Further to the recent announcement of the Academy Intake for the new season, Sussex CCC have confirmed that three young pace bowlers have been awarded Academy Plus Scholarships for the 2012 season. The Academy Plus is the holding ground between the Academy and the Professional Staff.

ECB Bans Sussex Captain Murray Goodwin

The England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has handed acting Sussex captain Murray Goodwin a one-game ban following three incidents of poor conducts. Goodwin was handed a reprimand and a suspended fine by his club for twice being reported by umpires for showing dissent but the ECB has decided to take even firmer action.

Sussex Reprimand Goodwin For Dissent

Acting Sussex captain Murray Goodwin has been reprimanded and warned about his future conduct by the club. The actions come after him twice being reported for showing dissent at an umpire's decision after being dismissed. Goodwin has also been fined an undisclosed amount by the club although this penalty has been suspended for two years as recognition of his service to the club and a previously clean disciplinary record.

Anyon And Liddle Sign New Sussex Contracts

Sussex fast bowlers James Anyon and Chris Liddle have put pen to paper on a new contract that keep them at Hove until the end of the 2013 season. Anyon joined Sussex from Warwickshire in 2009 while Liddle moved from Leicestershire in 2006 and both played key roles in last season's LV= County Championship Division Two success.

Yardy To Take Short Break From Cricket

Sussex all-rounder Michael Yardy will play no part in the Friends Life t20 match against Somerset this evening (14th June) as he takes a short break from the game, the club have confirmed. The stars of Sussex County Cricket Club have made a declaration - that they very much like the new green way they have of getting to the green, green grass of Hove and it’s all thanks to Ford and to Apex Car Rental. Umar Gul Signs For Sussex To Play Twenty20

Sussex have signed Pakistan fast bowler Umar Gul to boost their Twenty20 campaign, where he will join forces with compatriot Rana Naved-ul-Hasan. Gul, 27, has played 34 Tests, 88 One-Day Internationals and 34 Twenty20 Internationals, playing a leading role in Pakistan's success in the 2009 ICC World Twenty20.

Sussex Name Squad to Face Hampshire

Sussex have included leg-spinner Will Beer in their 14-man squad to take on Hampshire in their LV= County Championship clash that gets underway at The Rose Bowl from 4th May.
