total-play Ltd Helps Wirral CC Up Its Stake In Global 'Last Man Stands' Phenomenon

total-play Ltd has just completed the installation of three new synthetic match pitches at Wirral CC to help the club drive forward its league’s participation in the global phenomenon that is ‘Last Man Stands’ (LMS) cricket. Played in 5 countries and with some 20,000 players registered worldwide, this exciting T20 format sees teams of 8 players compete in short, 2 hour games aimed at getting all players involved; with sides only bowled out when all 8 are dismissed.

Ideal for summer evening play, LMS is becoming increasingly popular and The Wirral league, one of 35 in the UK, is no exception; expanding rapidly. The new match pitches are aimed at helping the club meet increased demand and host three games simultaneously. Built using total-play’s flagship tp365 system which is approved by the ECB, itself a staunch supporter of LMS and its promise to help broaden cricket’s appeal, the new pitches offer an ideal solution for the format, being designed for both match play and practice to offer unparalleled stability and balanced play.

The club is impressed with the new installations and is looking forward to hosting the first of many LMS matches using the new facilities, as club spokesman, Andy Procter, explains:
“I’d like to thank total-play for a superb job done. All three carpets have been installed brilliantly. The team arrived when they said they would, working tirelessly over the two days and left everything as they found it. The lads made my life a lot easier by doing everything our groundsman had asked, too!

“I have been really impressed by total-play and this experience has made me want to get back to resurrecting our three lane net proposal of a few years ago, abandoned because of planning issues. Wirral CC now looks forward to using the new facilities and working with Last Man Stands to promote much wider participation in cricket.”

Hosepipe bans may be something we're accustomed to in summer, but news that seven water companies in the South and East of the country are planning to enforce bans from 5th April - in the critical run-up to the cricket season - is giving clubs a real headache.
