Sri Lanka 177-9 (Tremlett 6-42) v England
Third Test, day two, The Rose Bowl
Chris Tremlett took four wickets on day two of the third and final Test against Sri Lanka at The Rose Bowl but the players were again left frustrated as rain curtailed proceedings.
Sri Lanka closed a shortened day on 177 for nine having faced 61.2 overs in all and just 23.2 overs in the day with Tremlett bowling his way to figures of six for 42.
The former Hampshire man added the wickets of Thilan Samaraweera (31), Tissara Perera (2), Rangana Herath (12) and Suranga Lakmal (0) to those of Tharanga Paranavitana and Kumar Sangakkara .
Sri Lanka added just six runs before the partnership between Samaraweera and Prasanna Jayawardene, who had frustrated England on the opening day, was broken, Tremlett having him caught by Kevin Pietersen.
Jayawardene finally fell for 43 when he was caught by Eoin Morgan off Graeme Swann before Dilhara Fernando's unbeaten 33 added a touch of respectability to Sri Lanka's score in difficult conditions.
Unbeaten at the other end was Chanaka Welagedara on seven.
Engalnd led the series 1-0 following an innings-and-14-run win in Cardiff and a draw at Lord's.
