Trescothick Slams Into Sixes Top Ten

Somerset's Marcus Trescothick found the Northants bowlers much to his liking at Taunton as he thrashed them to the tune of seven sixes, asserting himself in fourth place on the Sky Sports Sixes League leader board.

Joining Trescothick on 11 sixes is perennial run-machine Mark Ramprakash, who cleared the boundary at the Brit Oval four times in his match-winning unbeaten 85 against Middlesex.

Nottinghamshire’s David Hussey still leads the way, although Tim Groenewald kept up his sixes form this season by slamming three more in Warwickshire’s narrow three-run victory over the Glamorgan Dragons, to close the gap at the top to just one hit.

The Sky Sports Sixes League, sponsored by the Daily Express, ranks the top ten batsmen that have hit the most sixes in Friends Provident, Twenty20 Cup and NatWest Pro40 matches. It provides batsmen with another incentive for big-hitting with £2,000 and the sixes trophy for the winner, plus awards for each month’s big hitter.

The league has become a hugely popular element of Sky’s cricket coverage, with the league table featured on Sky’s domestic cricket coverage, Cricket AM and on It is also published each Wednesday in Daily Express.
